A very pleasant downhill excursion, which crosses a quiet valley, rich in Mediterranean vegetation, to reach the picturesque bay between the cliffs of Marina di Praia, perhaps for a swim or a fish tasting.

Information on values and points of interest
This route basically follows the medieval mule track that connected Agerola to Praiano up to the opening of the Bomerano - Amalfi roadway (1935). But already in late prehistoric times (see archaeological finds at the Civic Museum of Agerola) this descent to the port of Praia must have been vital for the commercial exchanges of the shepherds who populated the Agerola plateau.
After a first stretch, you will find yourself in front of the high pink cliff in which various cavities open, including the Grotta di S. Barbara (with the remains of sacred buildings of the X-XI century). It warns that the ascent to the higher caves is dangerous and is reserved for good climbers.
Going down to the valley floor, you can see both macerine (dry stone walls) and steps, which amaze for the large size and heavy wear of the blocks that were used to build them.
The long stretch that wanders along the sides of Vallone Praia, shows all the changing aspects of the vegetation that characterizes the medium-low slopes of the coast, dominated by evergreen and often fragrant sclerophylls. Meanwhile, you can admire, at the top, the summit cliffs of Mount Tre Calli and, below, the narrow end gorge of the valley, with the medieval watchtower known as Sciola next to it. Like the so-called "fjord" of Furore, the Marina di Praia is a "ria", that is, a gorge carved by water channeled (not by a glacier, as in real fjords) and then partially submerged by the sea for a rise in its level . Geology enthusiasts will be able to observe, in the rocky wall to the east of the beach, the faults that split the rock when the Gulf of Salerno was born, by sinking ... but without taking too much time away from the aesthetic enjoyment of this characteristic corner of the Divine Coast!
Route information
From p.za Capasso (Bomerano) take via Pennino and after 300 m, at some stone steps, turn left, towards the Pennino path. Take the steps and follow the numerous wooden signs on the path which, after about 500 m downhill, along the Pennino river, lead to the foot of the Grotta di S. Barbara. Here begins this path. As soon as you pass the cave, you will find an intersection, which you take to the right, continuing on the narrow flight of stairs, downhill.
You then go along a first stretch that alternates between stairs and a track on stony ground, until after about 500 m you reach an intersection, underneath an abandoned house. Continue downhill for about another 700 m, until you reach another intersection. Continue downhill, keeping to the right and, upon reaching the rolling stock, cross it to take the stairs below the road, which lead to the Marina della Praia bridge.
